The ultimate purpose of a strategic plan is to ensure the success of your business. By completing a strategic plan, you can align your business goals and action plans with your business vision. Planning plays a critical role in any business venture—it can mean the difference between success and failure.

Through strategic planning, you gain a proactive approach to business management. It allows all stakeholders to focus on a shared long-term vision, prioritize key objectives, and operate with aligned values. This process fosters collaboration and ensures everyone is working towards the same goals.

Workshop Objectives

The strategic planning workshop is designed to:

  • Develop a comprehensive strategic plan, including action steps and performance indicators, to guide the business towards success.

Agenda

Pre-Session Discovery Meeting

A preparatory session will be conducted to clarify the following:

  • Current business vision/mission.
  • Existing business plan/strategy.
  • Participants involved in the planning session, who will ultimately drive and be accountable for the strategy.

Timeframe: 1 hour, held at least 14 days prior to the strategy session.

Strategy Workshop

A dedicated session for focused and distraction-free strategic planning.

Topics covered:

  • Vision, Mission, and Philosophy: Clarifying the business's overarching purpose.
  • Values Assessment: Identifying core beliefs and principles.
  • SWOT Analysis: Including aspects such as people, product/service offering, marketing, procedures/systems, pricing/location, financials, competitors, team competencies, and industry insights.
  • Goal Setting: Using the SMARTER model to set actionable and measurable goals.
  • Key Performance Indicators: Establishing metrics to track progress.
  • Action Plan Development: Creating a grid to structure steps.
  • After Action Review: Reflecting on outcomes and lessons learned.

This session encourages active participation and self-reflection, requiring participants to step out of their comfort zones. Additional elements such as icebreakers, personal journey sharing, and leadership discussions can be included based on the business's unique needs (discussed during the pre-session discovery meeting).

Timeframe: Full day or two half-day sessions.

Post-Session Meeting

  • A summary “one-pager” business plan will be created based on the workshop outcomes.
  • A coaching and follow-up framework will be presented, offering options for monthly check-ins and individual coaching sessions.

Timeframe: 1 hour.
