Understanding Emotional intelligence
The objective of this workshop is to understand emotional intelligence through its four components: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management. Participants will learn how to increase their emotional intelligence by utilizing newly acquired skills and applying practical tools.
This interactive workshop encourages individual participation and requires participants to step out of their comfort zones, reflecting on their current personal and professional lives. A variety of tools and techniques will be used to assist participants in achieving self-discovery. These methods are designed for ongoing use, extending beyond the workshop to everyday life.
- Recognise how emotions affect performance and learn to use values to guide decision-making.
- Build self-confidence by harnessing the courage that comes from understanding one's capabilities, values, and goals.
- Understand self-management by controlling emotions during situations of stress and conflict.
- Develop social awareness to improve perception and empathy.
- Strengthen relationship skills to foster positive change, effective communication, teamwork, and collaboration.
Defining Emotional Intelligence
- Overview of Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and its importance.
- Neuroscience of EQ and the 4 quadrants (Daniel Goleman model).
Self-Awareness
- Understanding behaviors and patterns.
- Tools for self-reflection, including Johari Window and ego states.
- Aligning emotions and values with decision-making.
Self-Management
- Managing emotional triggers and stress.
- Strategies for maintaining control in challenging situations.
Social Awareness
- Developing empathy and improving perception.
- Active listening techniques.
Relationship Management
- Handling conflict constructively.
- Building strong relationships through communication, teamwork, and collaboration.
- Conducting a values assessment.
- Delivery Format: This workshop can be facilitated in person or via Zoom, depending on the participants' location.
- Duration: 8 hours, delivered over 4 weeks (2 hours per session, once per week).
- Homework: Participants will complete assignments between sessions to reinforce learning and encourage application of skills.
- Pre-workshop requirements: It is highly recommended that each individual complete their Extended DISC profile prior to the workshop commencement.
